So here are the totals NOT including the point for saturdays tip, but they do include ALL the bonus points.  Four people picked the Cats n Pies for the Granny this year - well done to Fava, Wildjohny, Asylum Seeker and jchr.  NObody picked the trifecta (ie with the Suns).

Of Scooters and Man - The Grand Finale

As the Grands Finale (thats the plural of Grand Final) are upon is, it seems like the lack of any Queensland team at the pointy end is causing those slowpokes to start turning their aggression within... yep much like the mods in the 60's it looks like the scooter wars are kicking off in Brissy.  "You go too slow Once Great." "You don't go at all WildJohnny."  "That's not a scooter, THIS is a scooter." "Who the f##k rides a scooter?".  "Just who was Scooter in the Muppets anyway?"

Well I can only answer the last question with certainty, and then only by looking it up on the Muppets very own wiki site - http://muppet.wikia.com - who knew they had their own world going?

Of course there are also no South Aussie teams in the finals.  We were robbed by dodgy umpiring decisions through the course of the year.  No, seriously.  If the Blues were robbed, and the Hawks were robbed, the the Crows were most certainly robbed. I blame Razor Ray. WOWEE!

So the best team of the last 5 years plays the best team of the last 2 years.  This promises to be an absolute cracker.  I know that gets said most years (notable omission: Port v Cats - everyone said 'this will be a slaughter, suck shit') but in all but Dave Cassell's mind, the Cats n Pies have been primed all year for this and it was never going to be anything other than this in the Granny.

The Pies have made their way through a tough tough final against the Hawks - massive game for them and they will be battered and bruised for the next couple of days.  Is it going to hurt them for the big one?  If it is still tight in the last quarter will they have the energy to keep going at that intensity?  One thing f'sure is the Cats will be going hard for the first half to try and break the Pies.

But unfortunately it could all come down to the absence of one player - Stevie J - massive out for the Cats if it goes that way.  Unlike the Hawks and Buddy, the Cats don't seem to LIE continuously about their players fitness.  I'm looking forward to Buddy being unavailable every game next year only to miraculously line up 20 mins before the start.  Alistair C spent too much time at the Paaaah honing his skills of deceit, learning from the Masters of Duplicity, but it won't wash next year Buddy - on yer bike.  Or scooter.

Stevie J.  He looks like an accountant but he is no doubt the X factor for the Cats.  And not in a Luke O'Dell "Introvert, Extrovert" kinda way... Without the big fella I just can't see them winning. Simple. 

In terms of your tips, YES you need to tip the grand final. During the week I will work out your GF/WS picks impact and post them on this ere blog - a few did tip the Cats n Pies so if you did, you may see your star rise... Tis a top ten paying tipping comp... I will post the $ this week too - it will all be revealed soon.

Preliminaries...

Well it's been a week of hatchets and hatchings.  It's all been said re Mark Harvey and Ross Lyon.  But what are the Dees doing?  Have they learnt nothing from Carlton circa 2001-2?  Wayne Brittain?  A crap team in search of a clue and they hire a neville nobody.  Hirdy's sold them a screwball.  Conniving bastard.  Wouldn't be surprised if he starts spruiking Stanton soon in an attempt to get him to go to... well probably Freo.

No surprises last week - the Eagles were way too good for the Blues, with the Blues getting the better of the umpiring to keep them in the game.  Shabby!  The Hawks downed a very average Swans after they had lied lied lied all week about Buddy.  Surprise.  I told mad jacob it was all a ruse and ruse it was.  They didn't fool me though!  No sireeee... and this week he has a tummy bug.  oh puhlease....

This week... well there will be no surprises.  The Eagles will get done comfortably by the Cats, and the Pies will give it to the Hawks.  Yep, we'd laugh if the Hawks won... but would we be happy?

"Buddy Is Over Rated"

Thats what Daaaaave said earlier this week when he heard the Budsta may miss the game against the Swans.  Yep.  "Buddy is the reason why Hawthorn loses games" is how Dave described the big fella.  To put that in context, back in 2003 Dave described Adam Goodes as "a log.. not even a log... a splinter...".  That would be the year Goodesy won the Brownlow.  So I'm not sure where that leaves this weeks game except that I won't be asking for Dave's opinion.

Not that I ever did.

But back to last week and the Bombers crashed out in the ugliest of fashion.  Shame.  Shades of Crows v Bombers not so long ago.  Hirdy tells me there is improvement in the wings.  Get rid of Stanton and maybe.  The Judds were way too good.  Juddy took a mark and the commentators blew their wads like a bunch of 12 year olds watching a Rhianna video.  If Dave said that Judd was over rated he may be on to something.

On friday night the Cats smashed the Hawks with Buddy intacto so maybe Dave is on to something?  The Cats were simply to big and strong for the Hawks.  Interesting to note only 3 teams have beaten the Hawks this year... the Cats... the Pies... and the Crows... GO CROWS!

The Beagles gave the Pies a good ole fright on Saturday in what was probably the best game of the 4.  For a while there the drug runners seemed to have all the answers.  The Frog was slotting them, and their forward line just looked too big and too strong.  Pretty unbelievable given their positions last year.  But normal service was resumed  in time and the dirty pies supporters breathed a sigh of relief a they were able to go back to their supervised residencies for a couple of weeks without missing a game.

And finally of course the Goodes beat the Sinners.  In a thrilling game, it took106 minutes of play before a goal was scored.  Makes the Hawks/Swans game look like it will be high scoring...

Finals - Week 2
I can barely concentrate on writing this up as I just saw an ad for the NEW Charlies Angels.  I just can't imagine how exciting that may be.  But in the meantime I have to deal with a BuddyFreeHawks vs A GoodesRampantSwans.  People are starting to favour the Swans... it's Goodes 300th... and the Swans like to play for these games... hmmm but surely the Hawks aren't a one player team?  Surely one player didn't single handedly take them to victory over all but three teams - the Cats, the Pies, and the CROWS!... hmmm. I'll tip the Swans cos I'm no chance for the tips but if the Hawks don't win they are GONE for 2012 too...

Game 2 has the Drugs v the Judds.  Too easy.

Minor Round... Done!

How farkin stupid are people?  Evidence to say Extremely Farkin?  D Wallis.  Seriously.

24 Rounds of Pleasure and Pain.  Mostly pain if you were South Aussie.  But then at least most of you can say you don't barrack for Port.  It's enough to make you get on some dodgy scooter and ride VERY SLOWLY around the 'burbs of Brissy a la Once Great.  What the huck is going on up there big fella?  I'm watching Brisbane's Least Wanted and in the background I see The Artist Formerly Known as Once Great hooning along at about 3k an hour.  Yer hardcore dude... HARDcore...

Actually there is one thing worse than being a Port supporter... and that is being a Melbourne supporter.  Absolute rubbish.  They came, they saw Adelaide Oval with more people than tarps, and they squandered.  And as a result the Paps avoid the spoon and hand it to the Gold Coast.  One thing I do know for sure is the Suns will NOT be taking the spoon next year.

In the only two games that mattered on the weekend the Swans set up a chance for a game at the SCG by beating the Lions.  It was all a bit easy really.  And then the Sinners got over the Blues to get the home ground advantage back from them.  Extremely selfish play by the Judds.

Yes we are including the finals.  Don't forget!  But who knows what could happen with the Oztips site... in the meantime, l have had a bit of a look thru the GF and Spooner picks and there are def a few negatives going on there.  The Doggies cost a few points at one end, while the Eagles were picked more than once for the Spoon.  Towards the end of the week I'll put the points up on a separate page here but in the meantime when are you guys going to catch the Juddmeister?!!! COME ON!!

FINALS - Round 1
Too many Victorian teams for my liking, so it's guaranteed that all the Vic papers are going to say how WONDERFUL this series is going to be, and it starts off with the Cats n Hawks.  Can't say I can disagree with this one being a ripper.  A real 50/50, and while the Cats have the better TEAM by a long way, the Hawks have Buddy and Cyril so anything can happy.  I'm going with the Team.

The Pies take on the Eagles at the MCG, and after the smashing the Pies took, anything can happen. It is hard to imagine that the team so many picked for the bottom 4 could beat the Pies, but Cox n NicNat are in rare form, and all the old stagers are doing the do quite nicely... I can smell an upset folks... Get On Board.

The Sinners host the Swans in what may well be a nil-all draw.  If the Sinners lose, expect Rossco to go to the Dees next year.  NOT.  Why would you?  Lordy Lordy Lordy.  Home ground advantage here gives the win to the Saints.

Finally the Judds take on the Hirdy Girdys.  The Hirdy's have a few players back but if Judd plays, the Bombers will Bombout.
