There's Only Two Ways You Can Get A Sore Neck...

"There are only two ways to injure your neck: A car accident and cunnilingus." ~ Larry David

Come clean Steph Rice... which is it?  I wake up this morning and hear on the news that she has a sore neck - what else am I supposed to think?  No wonder Russell & Lauryn Mark aren't allowed to bunk together - we can't have the whole squad going down with sore necks...

Hmmm anyway, in the two games from the top of the table, the best birds won.  The Hawks absolutely gazumped the Pies, and the Crows comfortably accounted for the Eagles.  Handy win for both teams.  Didn't see much of the Hawks win of course cos the Crows were playing at the same time, but it was good to see Clarkson have a nice spit of the dummy as he smashed the wall in before heading down for the quarter time chat.  [Oh and then he went and had a dummy spit at his sons umpy in some under 3's game... COME ON CLARKO! GET  A FRIGGIN GRIP!]

No Buddy, No Problems apparently.  T Cloke continued his 'bad form'.  Of course it could be the bad delivery.  Swan had 49 posessions - not sure how useful they were cos he still scored not a massive number of points in the dream team.  Why aren't people howling about how he hogs the ball to the detriment of the team a la G Ablett Jr?  Oh thats right... cos it is crap in both instances but Ablett is an easier target.

The Crows forward line continues to be a concussion zone with Tippers copping another blow to the head.  Not sure he was going to join up at Mensa post-football career, but 3 concussions in 6 weeks is a bit of a worry.  Pull yer head in son! Literally.  He isn't in my dream team so I thought he'd be safe.

The Tiggers n Roos fought out a tight battle.  Literally.  Lots of cat fights at quarter time - good to see a little passion in the battle for 9th and 10th.  I thought the Roos were gonna kickstart keep the family name CHOKE for a bit there but they managed to get the win on the board.  Poor ole Adam Scott.

No suprises with the Dockers win over the Giants, but the Suns nearly took the choccies against the Lions.  Shame - they had their chances, with some decent goalkickers missing set shots.  DAMNIT!

The Cats bobbed up with what was a surprise win to many.  So at what stage did the Bombers have you fooled?  OK they had me fooled when I tipped them over the Sinners but NEVER AGAIN.  With Daaaaave back in the country I always thought they were a monty to fall over.  Are the Cats back or are the Bombers cracked?  More the latter than the former but given the Crows play them both in the next two weeks I should be a bit shhhhhh on it.

Who else played....?  Oh the Sinners played the Swans is a crappy crappy game of footy only saved by the closeness in the last quarter.  The Swans won and grabbed top spot back on percentage from the Crows.   It's a nice view from up here...  I'll enjoy it for now.

Hmmm and in other battles of no consequence to the Top Eight, the Paps beat the Dees up in the Top End, while the Blues did everything but lose against the Doggies.  Both teams are crap and if the Blues make the eight they will make a nice little confidence boost to whoever finishes 5th...

The Tippers
THREE people managed full marks this week - Tricky Dicky Banks, John Murray, and David Polkinghorne all get whoppers.  Has anyone actually eaten their whopper yet?  Good effort there picking all 9 in what was a tough week.

The top of the table became a bit closer with IH8Crows leaping equal with Ruby2Shoes after yet again correctly tipping the Crows.  Should we reverse all such tips from hereon in?  Ruby's tipping hung on the Doggies/Blues game - he picked the Doggies and if that got home it would have been an entirely different scenario for him.  Dr Phanto is in 3rd while a group sit back in equal 4th.

Round 18
As the Flight of the Conchords so rapturously sang... It's Business Time... and there are some important games this week, along with a bunch of really couldn't give a flying conchord.

First up the Bombers n Hawks.  It's the first time in a lot of years that both teams have been in the 8 and on sort of equal terms.  But lets be honest, the Hawks will drop the Bombers like stone.

The Cats play the Crows down at Skilled... obviously if this were in Adelaide it is a no-brainer but down at Skilled... well it will be a good win for the Mighty Mighty's.

Carlton play the Tigers in a genuinely hard game to pick.  Not sure.  They are both very average teams and the loser is no chance to make the eight with the winner not much more likely.  Both teams have losing form - that win over the dogs means nothing.  Hard to pick the Tigers though.

Port v Freo is another toughie - if the Dockers are going to make the 8 then they have to win - the Paps would love to spoil their party.  I'm tipping the Paps to cause the upset here.... while the Sinners will be too good for the Doggies and the Beagly Beaglies too good for the  Lions.

An easy Whopper to you all then eh?

North, Pies and Swans will easily beat the Dees, Giants and Suns - percentage anyone?

  1. Just have to put my 2 bobs worth in for the Mighty Cats. Sure they have lost 6 but 4 of those have been against top 4 sides and of the 6 they lost the Cats have had more scoring shots in 4 of them. The only real loss has been to that mob from Adelaide and that matter will be sorted this week at Simmonds (not Skilled) Stadium. If young Tommy gets rid of the yips & Scarlett can keep his hands to himself then c'mon September. Wildjohny

    1. You know why they had to rename it from Skilled don't you...? (Please don't make me spell it out...)
