Round 9 Wrap

Greetings from Melbourne. Am sitting in while the Horseboy runs nearly 90k across Sth Africa. Not something any sane person would contemplate unless being chased by a hippo! We wish him well. He'll be catching the Socceroos over there too. Have a couple of Pimms for us LP!

The Nipster

Anyway - Round 9

Sadly for me (and the rest of the 50 odd-thousand), Round 9 started with a win for the Cats. Personally, was hoping the Pies would kick 20+ to tear the Cats a new klacker. However it was the Pies who were the subject of shame. Cats clearly the best in the comp. *Sniff.

The talk of Round 9 has just gotta be Barry Hall's sleeper hold. What a cracker. Headlines from Melbourne press suggesting it was so good, that the ump only stopped it with a three count. Not totally an unexpected reaction from a bloke doing up his shoelace - methinks? Dogs by plenty (over North).

Swans decimated by injury in their loss to Freo. That has the Purple Haze ending a pretty long losing streak at the SCG. Bradshaw and Kennelly both have knee issues. This equals supercoach problems. Expect Goodes to be used everywhere next week. Before slotting him into your side - check the Horseboy's team. It appears he is the curse of many. If he plays for The Horseboy Double B's - dont go near him.

Didn't see the Dees beat the Power. Apparently all too easy for the Dirty's until the last quarter. Power had a fair crack but no chocolates. Speaking of which, their coach none too pleased with what he reckoned was only 30mins of footy from the Paps. Good to see em loose by a point if you ask me. *Sniff (again).

Dreamtime at the G - ended as all expected for the Tiges. Yellow and black are stuffed! No question. Reiwoldt kicked 6 (pretty handy actually) but David Hille showed how having a recognised ruckman may actually help at AFL level. Bombers too quick and too good.

Crows continued the pain for the Lions. That's 5 on the trot for Brissy. Crows uncovered a few handy players. Taylor Walker had his best game for the pride of SA. From the highlights McLeod looked like he was back in 1997. Big test against the Sainters this week!

Hawks got over the Blues pretty easy. Looks like the Hawks return to form has coincided with the return of about half its team. Burgoyne is racking up some very nice numbers and to be honest any team with Buddy Franklin and Luke Hodge is always gonna be handy!

Eagles and Saints finished out the round. Went as expected. Saints midfield as good as any running around.

Looking ahead you'd think that the Dogs, Cats, Paps, Pies, Sainters, Hawks, Blues and Freo would start favorites for Round 10. MOTR likely to be Bombers v Dogs. Big Bad Bustling likely to miss at least 5 and the Bombers have got Ryder and Hille playing pretty solid footy.

...hopefully Brown and Fevola both have O.P and have to miss a week. Go Pies!
