Finally... You Can Have Your Money!

Apologies for my extreme tardiness but it has been challenging getting the time to sort this! (I even strarted this last week).

Congratulations to Pavsthaman. In the Grand Final his team may have played like a bunch of 2001 version purples, but he came home with the bikkies, taking $500 with him. In second was Joseph, and in third was Tigger fan Luke Maguire aka 'smart luke'. This year we used the margin to separate out the positions so there are no ties.

In the streak, however, there was a tie for 2nd. Interesting to see no overlap between the Streak and the Overall winners...

The Dream Is Over

Ok ok it's is officially all over.  Move on. No I am not talking about Our Julia's Leadership.  And i am not talking the Rugger although Deans is GAWN!  No I am not talking about the Ashes although I am not holding my breath despite the Great Man, nay great SOUTH AUSTRALIAN BOOF now being the man in charge...

No, I am of course talking about the season for the Bluebaggers. Micky MaltMouse was brought in cos Big Ears Ratts (a mouse for a rat?) couldn't do it with the team despite them being so bloody good.  Remember when they were cooking something? Micky was gonna save them and take them into the top 4... Alas it's top 14 and when are people gonna start saying Ratts must have been an ABSOLUTE GENIUS to get such a rabble into some form of contention over the last couple of years? The team has gone backwards under the Million Dollar Man but no praise for Noddy eh? Cept maybe the nice lil backhander from Bucks who pointed out the Blues were RUBBISH...

Oh and the Crows will probably struggle too.

Kennets Curse. The Cats. Lets be honest Ando - it was never in doubt - what the hell was I thinking picking the Hawks? Farrrrrk.  Meanwhile the Tiggers were feeble as the the Roos cashed in, the Dees tried against the Swansv- must have been the South Aussie in charge - and the Lions did it easy over a son of godless Suns. The bluddy Peptides continued on with a win over the Paps, the dockers did the Sinners, and the Giants pushed a woeful Doggies...

Tippers
Three eight from 9's on the weekend - and it was a tough ole weekend so no surprise that they weren't from the pointy end... While Gutterguard and Crowsfc are both lording it up in France and da D Master is lording it up in the Shire they clearly aren't looking at form eh?

On the other hand TiggerMan Luke Maguire is top of the table on 99 - my guess is he will follow the form of his tea...

Round 16
The crows will smash the Pies. The hawks, cats n Tiggers are all dead cents, but the blues n sinners may be one to go against the odds.

Roos, swans, bombers and in the derby...? Can't go past the Purple.

Invisible Man

OK so some of you think Horseboy goes AWOL when his team goes AWOL.  Fair call.  All I can say is finally we had a weekend where the Mighty Mighty's were UNBEATEN! Wahey!  And here is yer update!

Equally WAHEY was that win by the Lions.  Un.  Believable.  I'm sure time stood still for that 30 seconds.  There was no way known the ball could make it down from the back line to a shot in front given all the left/right jiggery that was going on but they did and it was indeed a great moment.  A shame they didn't have A McGrath lining up on the Saturday night AGAINST the Lions... Now THAT was a tragedy.  K Beale.  Falling over just like every other Saturday night.  Hmmmm actually I don't think I was that far off myself...

What the hell is going on with the cricket team?  Buncha spoilt arse wannabees.  I remember the days when.... when... errr... I dunno.  But at least you knew who the F was actually playing for the country.  It's ok to have different players in each form of the game but when the test team rotates players in and out on the 3rd day of the game that's taking it too far.  Thank God they have a South Aussie in charge again!  GO BOOF!

Speaking of South Aussies, The Paps played good footy against the Swans - some say they beat them at their own game.  The Swans didn't play bad footy but can the Paps keep playing good footy?   They storm into the 8 at the expense of the Blues.

A Embley.  You should be outed for a month after that effort for STUPIDITY.  What the hell was he thinking?  The Eagles played well but the Hawkers had taken some kind of kick straight drugs.

Speaking of drugs.  Jobe.  Is he living in a world of fantasy?  "Yeah I took the drug that is illegal, but I should be fine."

I've said it before, I will say it again - those Dockers are looking ok.  Except I brought in Barlow to my supercoach team last week and look what happened?

Tippers
Seven folk are equal at the top on 85 points - and two of them are Note Issue folk... Yes, I am expecting some nice shiny new denom to come my way thank you MrMad n Maguire.  Every tip counts and you would be REALLY stupid to forget to put them in.

In the side comp the longest streak was ended by the Cats loss on sunday - Crowsfc cleary didn't pick the Crows as a dead cert for a while as he got to 27.  In second is WEPIT on 23 and the 3rd highest to date is Magiver on 21.  But they are all dead runs now so it's time to reboot and focus, with Gutterguard leading the charge on 16 not out.

Round 14
First game is THURSDAY - two sets of druggoes duelling it out against eachother.  I guess we get to see if performance enhancing will beat recreational.  It's over in the West... the Eagles lost a cuppla players (again)... but I swing to the home team.  Eagles by 3 goals.

Friday night at the SCG has a GoodesFreeSwans v the Blues.  Despite no Goodes, I don't think the Blues have got enough to beat what will be an angry Swans so again it is the home ground advantage for me.  Apparently we are sitting down near the goals so keep an eye out for da Horseboy cos he is in da house.

Can't believe I have to say this but I am nervous about the Suns!  The Crows travel up there and while I will pick em... feel free to go the Suns cos they are ramping up for a handy 2014.   Meanwhile in the battle of the Pies, the Paps host the Wobbles.  Winner takes all, loser takes the fall.  Tough pick here... logic says the Wobbles though so will tip them with no conviction.  Unlike half of their team which do indeed have a host of convictions and I am surprised they are allowed out of the state on bail.  Who sets these conditions anyway? Neil Balme?

Heave Ho... the Dockers go to the Cattery.  The Cats will be Angry.  But they are without SJ - who in in my Supercoach team of course.  When in doubt go the home team but this is the final test for the Dockers and I wouldn't be surprised do see them strangle the Cats as well as pinch and bite.

How good is this next game?  The Dees n Doggies.  One for the ages.  Can you imagine being forced to watch this game?  You'd rather chew yer own toe off.  Yer rather chew a runners toe off.  Ugh.  I really don't care but the Doggies should win cos they are just slightly better.

The Hawks n Roos will beat the Lions n Giants respectively, while Richmond will cement their spot in the 8 over the Saints.  Ahhh St Milne...

Honey badger don't give a damn...

After the weekends MEEK effort by the crows who were COMPLETELY UTTERLY DESTROYED by the swans (there you go - I said it) I have been researching some fearless animals that I thought we need to base ourselves on for the rest of the year if we are going to turn it around, and it is without doubt the Honey Badger - he don't give a damn! Go you dirty lil honey badger!  We need some badger! Carn you Badgers! Eat that larvae you dirty f$ck!

So yes, now I have to resign myself to maybe not tipping the Crows on occasion... Cos that was brutal.  Almost as brutal as anyone playing the Dees.  The dees are just looking completely woeful. The Pies played with only 14 people on Monday, with no one actually going on the field in the first quarter, but they still managed to bust the Dees a new one.  Indeed the only Dee that put up a fight was Dawes - an ex-pie - who then got injured. How did they beat the Giants?

On Friday night the peptides kicked in with about 3 minutes to go but that's all it takes to beat the Micky Mouses apparently.  That and drugs.  It could be embarrassing in a few weeks time if the bombers get thrown out hey?  Honey badger wouldn't give a damn.

How good was it watching the Suns Saturday night? It almost made me forget about those pesky swans.  They just looked... Good. Ablett continued his godlike performance, and the rest of the team is really starting to follow his lead.  The Roos thought one quarter was enough - it was for Sydney - and then kissed 2013 goodnight... Shame.

The beagles somehow got home over the sinners... And the giants gave the cats. Small scare - one quarter WAS enough...

Tipping
There were 2 full houses this week with courageous cale and chooka both unbelievably picking the Swans.  So now we have EIGHT people tied at the top - those margins could be very important folks so give them some thought!

Round 12
It kicks off with the blues n hawkers. This will be closer than form would indicate - the rest is a dual edged sword and buddy is busy contemplating his 6 million $ offer from the giants. But they will be too good.

The Tiggers host the Crows and if you want easy money the crows are paying $3.15 - get on board cos the crows will have been eating honey badger all week long and they won't give a damn.

Freo will smash the lions and I can't see the giants beating the paaaaah, nor the pies losing to the doggies...

oh MY!  those Roos eh? Seriously.  If they were the Indian Cricket Team you would assume they were on the take.  Maybe they are?  TOO FUNNY!  I almost feel guilty.  Nuh.  Not at all.  GO CROWS!

Seems like my post didn't go up last week.  I'll blame technology.  But lets be honest, nothing happened last week.  This week on the other hand we have a 24 hour news cycle devoted to Pies supporters.  You could see them all rubbing their hands with glee... WAHOO! SOME CONTROVERSY!  The Pies got smashed on and off the field - although yes, Eddie did do the right thing so we should give a tick.  The Swans clicked for the first time this year.  Someone must have put their calendar forward 3 months cos they looked red hot.

The only other real surprise for me was the Doggies beating the Sinners.  But that just goes to show that when teams destined to finish bottom 4 play eachother, either team can win.

The eight is almost settled so lets start jostling for positions... I'll give you one change and one change only.  The Pies to come back in and either the Bombers or Blues to crash out.  Take your pick.

Tippers
Louman got the full house over the weekend.  That is pretty bluddy handy and is the kind of thing that takes you to the top of the table.  Kinda surprised there were so many low scores but just back the Crows and things will turn for you eventually.  The whole table squeezed up a bit with JMc still equal top after getting just the 5 right.

Don't forget the Side Comp folks... you just keep on tipping in it - even if you don't think you are a chance in the main gig, a top 3 in the Streak will give you some money.  Although it helps to have paid me.  Crowsfc is now up to 19 and still going - he needs 4 more to catch WEPIT... tread carefully.

Round 10
The last round before the split round and there are some biggies.  The Lions host the Pies on friday night and while you will all back the Pies - and rightly so - the Lions are playing ok and it is at home... lets see what happens with some of the Pies outs before upping the margin.

The Blues should beat GWS comfy, but at Footy Park the Crows host the Dockers in what should be a ripper.  The Dockers are missing players but still winning (do Melbourne count as a win?), whlie the Crows had the luxury of playing the Roos and thus only really having to play one quarter of footy.  I'll back the Crows but it should be a great game cos the Dockers are going to be top 4 come years end.

The Peptides are bringing their pills to Sydney on Saturday arvo and myself and the Crowsfc will be making our way out to the SCG to get some restricted viewing action and watch it.  I really don't think the bombers are any chance.  2013 is becoming 2012 for them.  That what happens with drugs.  Every day becomes a repeat of the day before.  Swans will beat them comfy.

Down at Catsland they are having their first night game and it is against the Ablett's.  The Suns won't make the 8, but they are without a doubt the most improving team in the comp and anyone that takes them lightly (aka Hawks) will be in for a shock.  Pencil them into the 8 next year - bet you didn't say that at the start of the season.  Anyway, the Cats will win.

Up in Darwin the Doggies 'host' the Paps.  Tough pick.  Are the dogs playing better?  Have the Paps dropped totally?  No home ground advantage here so I'll stick with the Paps based on general form.

And then there are 3 formalities... the Hawks by 56 goals over the Dees, North should surely beat the Sinners, and the Eagles will push the Tiggers further out of the 8...

Round 7 - Sinners Unite

Carn you Sinners!

As I sit here watching a game that I thought was a formality... I say unto thee...  Go You Sinners! Hahaha ahhh mick - the screen shows your joke of a face as it turns redder than than Singo talking to a Waterhouse after a cuppla frothies.  GOAL to Armitage...

Did I mention that I am leading the DreamTeam comp?  Damn I am fine.  I've ditched that pathetic Franklin just in time to see him get some points on the board (love that).  I've kept Gibbs in the hope that that keeps him injured (I have a spot on the bench for him.)  And I've brought in Dale Thomas in the hope that he either (a) gets me big points or (b) gets injured.  Or both.

Meanwhile the Crows took the opportunity to school the GWS.   Lynch looked like a Riewoldt. Dangerfield looked like Dangerfield. The Giants looked like mini people.  But they still will win a Premiership before the Dees who were pathetic against the Suns. Yes I picked the Suns but 60 points..?  Woeful.  Thought it was a bit harsh of Gerard Healy to refer to the Suns as ####s but it clearly worked wonders...

The two big games of the round really turned into nothings as the Cats rebounded from another incredibly slow start to smash the Bomb-outs, and the Hawks killed the Swans - not a contest.  That leaves the Cats unbeaten on top and looking as good as ever, while the Bombs will now start to head South.  Factor in the drugs and you can see this turning into a long season for them... you heard it here ladies.  Nothing but the facts.

The Lions put up a bit of a fight against the Beagles.  Apparently they were 'plucky'.  Don't you love hearing the ad where big JB tells us how "nothing beats coming off the ground knowing you've hit all those key indicators...".  Time to stop losing then eh?

No shocks with the Roos beating the Doggies, but Majak is one big muthaf***** unit eh?  He is bigger than ME despite my steroid program currently being 18 weeks in.  Imposing is the word.  The Doggies are just lucky they have Melbourne playing in the same comp cos they are a pretty average bunch of units.

Given how badly hit by injury the Haze are at the moment, it shows how far back the Pies have fallen to lose to them.  Shame.  As per the pre-season prediction, the Haze will be up amongst it at the pointy end if they can get some key players back.

The biggest suprise of the round for me was the Paps meek game against the Tiggers who were missing some decent players.  Has the Paps year come to a sharp stop?  Their younger players are already tiring.  The next cuppla weeks will see if they are as PATHETIC as we all thought at the start of the year or if they really have improved.   Still at least they aren't Melbourne.

And the Blues lost players, tried to THUG their way through it all (Eddie!), and lost to the Sinners.  Ahhh glorious it be.

Tippers
No one picked the full round, with the Sinners win being the main culprit.  Picking 8 from 9 was Mr Casey who leapt into 2nd position, 1 behind the J-Mac.  Former leader and inspiration to thousands - Tom Rosewall - managed just the 4 and fell a few off the pace.

In the Streak Comp, WEPIT's run has ended with his selection of the Blues - his 23 is now the target.  Magyver is on 21 and the leader of current runs.  Don't forget to keep putting your picks in - it is the longest streak across the year so plenty of time.

Round 8
As usual there are some interesting games and some not so interesting games.  First up is the Beagles v Roos game.  I guess that qualifies as interesting as they both need the win.  Plus the media is having fun playing up the Majak v Nicnat angle.  Not sure exactly why - must be cos they are both so damn tall.  The winner goes 4:4 so it is a big game - at home I'll go the Eagles.

Essendon v Brissy in Melbourne... the Bombers should win this pretty easy.  And the poor Giants will get smacked around the goolies by the Hawks, but in the battle of the bottoms, the Suns will be favorites again this week as they play the Doggies.  Hmmm.  Not sure they can back up a cuppla weeks in a row... but it is at home so will tip the Suns.

Pies n Cats.  A few weeks ago this would have been 50/50 but the Pies have got some probs.  I think it will be close-ish but the Cats will have too much and the Pies will drop out of the 8 to be replaced by the Mighty Mighty Crows who will have no trouble beating the Sinners.

Sydney will beat an undermanned Haze at the SCG, the Blues should beat a dropping Paps, and Richmond will chew up and spit out the Dees.

Wednesday 8 May 2013

Bloody Rubbish

Umpires? Bloody rubbish. What is going on when literally a finger tap on the arm costs you a game? It's not often I agree with Everywhere Eddie but in this case he is right. As if the Mighties don't have enough problems without The Worst Decision Ever Made being thrust down their throats.  Tippers leaves for a bunch of Swans, the Mullett is out injured for a year, and the players have to live in a town where the most exciting thing to happen is when the Balls move three feet left.  And then THAT!  And then hungry Bartlett claims the rule is the same as ever.  Rubbish! ON YOUR BIKE OLD MAN!

Hmmm actually I didn't see any game cos I was too busy DUBBLIN DA TOOL but I trust Eddie.

The Bombers drugs kicked in at half time.  Nuff said. After that it was a round to forget... In fact...I already have...

The Tippers
You all tipped the full house! Well almost all of you.

Round 7
This week has a Monday night game. They shit me more than umpires and Eddie combined.  Fortunately we have some big games and it doesn't get any bigger than the Crows n Giants out at Skoda. Win number 3 come on down.

Lesser games are on the books too though. There is the lil matter of the Grand Final replay. The hawks n Swans down in Melbourne.... Hmmm interesting they replayed the prelim and grand finals in the consecutive weeks... Will the results go the same way? I think the Hawks may get the one that doesn't matter.

The cats n drugcheats play Friday night. It is being billed as The Big Game.  Two Undefeated Teams.  but The Cats will be way too good. Not even a contest.  And the Paps will be too good for the Tiggers in the city that never wakes.  The lions have Blackie back as they play the out of form beagles.  If you want a supposed upset this one could be it.  The Roos will beat the Doggies, while the sinners play the Blues... Two trains passing as the Blues should win pretty comfy.

The dockers host the pies... Hmmm probably the toughest pick. The haze have injuries bit the Pies aren't playing overwhelming footy... Toss a coin and pik the Dockers. Then get annoyed.

Finally the dees n suns play. Carn the suns. If you didn't pick the lions, pick the suns.

Wednesday 1 May 2013

Round 5 - Tex

First up, I have more excuses for being late this week.  I had a tooth removed and the last thing you want to hear from your dentist as he is about to snap, bash, crack, rip and grind is "yes... I dont blame you for being nervous... this looks quite challenging...".  Don't believe me...?

All I can say is Drugs are Good.

OK officially the Mighties are in a touch of strife. Tex has fallen for the Curse of Horseboys Dream Team and is gone for the season, and the Crows in general are looking wobblier than the Dank/Hird love affair.  The Crows were so bad they managed to finish with 1 person on the bench and fight back hard in the last quarter but still lose to the Blues who received 21 free kicks to 12. Those Blues must be awesome.

Back to ANZAC Day, and the Bombers put in a dominant performance against the Pies. Do we bother taking any notice of anything the Bombers do? They claim they didn't take illegal drugs.  Aha.   Shades of Saddam Hussein there me thinks.  The other ANZAC game was the Sinners and Swans - ahhhh yes the first game played for 4 points on foreign soil. Could they have picked two teams that have played worse games against each other over the last 5 years?  They said it was a success but I just saw a very boring game of footy.

The Haze scraped home against the Tiggers after the ump got in the way on the goal front.  Jack Riewoldt was a very naughty boy apparently. Who cares. Move on. The biggest game for mine was the Paps win over the Beagles after igniting back from 26 goals down with 3 minutes to play.  How an unbeaten team paying at home was not favourites against a team that was 1-3 was beyond me. Hate to say it but thePaps are looking like the Crows circa 2012 (while the Crows look Pap-like).

Brassie beat the Dees (who lost Mitch Clarke), the Cats made hard work of the Dogs, the Suns easily bet the Giants, and in the final game SOMEhow the hawks got home over the Roos.  How did they do that? Lucky lucky lucky... But in the process they did lose Rioli.  Oops.

The Tippers
There were a few tens this week with pavpaaaaaa, Joseph mcaleer and Tom rosewall... Getting the full house and moving to the top of the table. Easy game apparently.

In the streak comp Daaaave 'wepit' Cassell s on 17! This from the an that can't string a single bet together. No shame tat man...

Round 6
The Friday nighter this week is a yawn fest - the Sinners will be pathetic against the Pies. And while I would like to see the Bombers players start their big come down soon, it won't be against the Giants.

The Roos start major favourites over the Paps down in tassie... Here is a REAL chance to give themselves a name... Dare I say go Paps? Hmmm must be the drugs. I think the Roos will nab this one though.

We all know the Crows will smack the hawks, but if you are looking for an upset this week it is the Tigs over the Hawks.

All the rest is pretty obvious... Dockers over the Suns, Sydney over the Lions, Blues over the Dees, and Beagles over the doggies...

Hey have you paid? Email me... I need to pay for this tooth!!

Round 4 - I Walk The Line

Danger Is My Business
Late again... but I have reasons aka excuses.  I was down in Melbourne on the weekend with The Nipster and I am still battlescarred from seeing the two tribes that are Tigers n Pies go to war.  It's a different language when you whistle it through 3 teeth.

Nips Enjoys a Mid Strength
Safe to say the Nips was not amused during the first half - which was some of the worst football played since the Dees took to the field any time in the last 30 years. Fortunately for the Pies they kicked into gear in the third quarter and it was game over.  I was interested to know what the Tiggers supporters actually thought of Jake King so did a little vox populi.  Apparently this is a touchy subject, akin to asking if your wife is pregnant and finding out that no she is just extremely fat.  They get defensive do those Tigs.  Then aggressive.

The biggest win of the week was by Melbourne.  To come back the way they did against such experienced quality opposition as the team most picked for bottom really showed the kind of courage and determination that the Dees are full of... Just as well they have been on the supplements.

I didn't see much other footy for the weekend... but from what I saw, the Cats played good footy to beat the Swans and stay unbeaten.  They keep on keeping on hey?  And unlike the other unbeatens they have actually played decent teams.  The Paps beat the Suns comfortably and the Bombers beat the Sinners in a game that yielded many $ to the AFL as they pushed and shoved.  Milney got in the face of his opponent and after getting suspended showed photos of Judd.

Not much else going on in an average round of footy... the Crows pounded the Doggies in appalling conditions, the Roos smashed the Lions, and the Hawks beat the Dockers comfortably.  But did you pick the Blues to beat the Eagles?  1:3 for the Eagles ain't a good start for a Premiership contender... 2:2 is the perfect launchpad though.

The Tippers
Three 8 from 9's this week but no big mac.  Or whopper.  While the Dredd picked the Tigs to miss the full house, McAleer and WildJ went the Beagles.  Still 8 from 9 was a great effort.  That leaves BJAK all alone up front on 27 points - one clear of a bunch.

In the Streak Dave 'WEPIT' Cassell is on 15.  FIFTEEN!  He's 20th overall in the tipping but jeez he streaks with the best of them.  Now if he could only put our money on the right team...

Round 5
Some toughies this week, starting with the ANZAC Day special - which is of course Thursday.  The Bombers n Pies duke it out.  And I hate to tip the Bombers.  Or the Pies.  But after seeing the Pies last week I think they will struggle against a top 14 team like the Bombers.  That and injuries.  So Bombers it is.  Over in NZ the Sinners play the Swans.  Swans to get back to winning.

While Freo will bounce back to beat the Tigs, the Cats will cream the Dogs, the Lions will poop on the Dees, and the Hawks will comfortably beat the Roos, the other games are less cut n dried.

GWS and Gold Coast.  In the Suns favour is that the Giants couldn't even beat the Dees.  But the Suns just copped a cuppla injuries... hmmm... right now I am sunning up but the Giants could be back in my calcs by the weekend.  The Blues host the Mighty Mighties and you can all tip the Blues but we'll be a-clicking and account for the Blues by 10 goals I tellsya!  And then we have the first test for the Paps - they host the Beagles.  If they are playing good footy then they should win this game.  I think they are playing ok... and they will win... yes... I know...

Saturday 20 April 2013

Better late than...

Footy seems to have taken a back seat this week - even Robbo on 360 spoke about something else.  Boston. Fark hey?  I had friends there - all safe -and was there last year so must admit it all hit home.  Fortunately we have Alan Jones - brainiac of this century and the last - to do the police work for us.  The FBI must be pissed off they don't have him over there.  He managed to link those pesky foreign students in Australia with the bombing.  I think he was referring to those students who are... *shhhhh* moozies!  Can't diss his brainstorming ability. They DO have a lot of students over there in Boston.  And that massacre a couple of months ago featured... students.... far out!  He IS onto something.... We can only hope we have the ability to freeze AJ's brain before he dies so his vision can live on.  Actually Lets freeze it now before it gets away.  Although when I saw an interviewer ask one of the marathon runners if they would think twice about going in a run again I thought maybe they could also freeze his brain.  Good question Koshie! Typical port supporter.

Adam Scott. Friggin awesome. Admittedly my golf was better on Sunday - he didn't have to contend with some of the greens I had to.  But still, not bad.  It was also good to see Tigger Woods respecting the game.  Next round he will bring out the shoe-wedge.

Back to the footy.  Yes I was pissed off.  Apparently the Roosters also beat the Mighty Double Blues.  It didnt pay to be Mighty this weekend.  Some of the worst decision making ever seen on a football field since... Well probably since Jack Watts pulled on a guernsey.  Walker misses a goal from point blank only to see it rebound down the other en d for a goal.  Dzzzt.  That was bad.  But what about where Wright marked 50 out then hand passed to dude who was then run down, holding the ball, and then another goal at the other end? Petrenko hand passed to walker 2.5m out and almost missed him.  It was a disgrace!  The Paps did play well though - and I did say prior to the season that I thought they would play better this year.  High standards there but compare them to the Dees...

And didnt The Dees played well... for the first half... and STILL lost by 15 goals!  That has to be a record.  Maybe they need an inspirational coach like Hirdy.  He would want to be 100% innocent cos he is talking the talk.  The media just loves Baby James - he was a good looking great player who is articulate.  And probably took banned substances.  But thats ok for now.  And its ok to have someone on the board investigating you come over for dinner to give you advice on what the best way to answer questions may be.  The Bombers comeback over freo WAS inspired.  Indeed it was unbelievable.  But the 22 calf foetuses that were hanging outside the rooms just prior to half time seem a long way removed from the half orange I was given in the under 12s for Mt Lofty.

The Lions beat the Suns in a great game between two teams that won't feature, but the Suns won't finish bottom.  They are a more even team this year although Gaz is still unbelievable.  Nor will the Giants who lost Patton in their game against the Sinners.  Not sure why the GWS home games are all in Canberra early on - we wanna see them in Sydney before they have been totally smashed.  The Siners did that to them.

The two big games of the round were the Cats n. Blues, and hawks n pies.  The hawkers were struggling early but ended up pounding the Pies who now have a few more injuries.  Franklins Lomu moment was UNBELIEVABLE.  That will be replayed ad infinitum.  Amazing.  MiniMouse is still raging against the machines.  Did I hear him say he didn't care about the supporters?  Bizarre man.  Anyway they have played three reasonable teams so not surprising they are zip n three.  The Cats keep winning.  The Tiggers did what they should have, the Swans did what they could for a quarter and then went back to sleep cos thats all they had to do, and I am still grumpy about the crows.

Oh and some horse retired.  Who cares.  Seriously? It's a horse

Round 2 - The Cream and The Drop

SHUT UP BRAD!!!

Jeez... has there ever been a bigger crybaby in the game than Brad Scott?   Actually... Hirdy springs to mind.  And Nick Riewoldt could turn the tears on faster than Meryl Streep.  And now you mention it Malthouse wasn't afraid to hug n tug when the ole tears were making an appearance.

But STILL, Scotty.  Yer embarrassing us.  Mostly because we knew exactly what you were going to do before even YOU did it.  Milli Vanilli knew it 2 decades ago.  Stop it.  you lost.  41 points lead was what you had - but then all of a sudden the Cats started doing what they do best and ripped their guts out.  Ten years ago people spoke about the shinboner spirit - they don't do that now eh?  They talk about Brad Scott being a lil crybaby whinging and moaning at absolutely everything that he perceives as going against him.  Absolute sook.  That's zip n two Scotty.

Speaking of annoying people, the Pies n Blues game was billed as Malthouse v Malthouse Jr.  I have never wanted Collingwood to win anything.  Ever.  But listening to Micky Mouse continuously rant and rave is enough for me to yell GO ELLIOT! at the telly.  The Bluebaggers looked good against an underladied Pies side who also lost their ruckman midway through the second quarter.  But they lost.  Much like they lost to the Tiggers last week.  So are the Pies good or are the Baggers bad?  That's zip n two Micky...

Liam Shiels and Jordan Lewis try the new Peptide Absorbtion Method on the Bench During the Eagles/Hawks Game

And then there was the Beagles/Hawks game.  This was the only game that I missed the tip on for the weekend and as the Beagles struck back during the third quarter I thought here we go... 3 games in a row where the team that was smashing em lost... no doubt MadJacob was laying on the couch in a fetal position thinking of zip n two himself as the inevitable was about to occur.  The gap got to 14 points.  He kept checking his phone for warm wishes.  And then the Beagles stopped dead.  50 point margin.  Bang.  That's zip n two Johnny.

Have to say the rest of the round sadly looked ineffectual in terms of the impact on the finals - Sydney aside.  And yes that includes my beloved Crows who played like it was 2011 again.  Or maybe 1999.  I'm telling myself it's cos it's early in the season after making it through to late September but things look a little out of place at the moment.  More chips than Dave from 12 foot off the green.  The Mighty's did of course win leaving the Lions to say to themselves.... ZIP N TWO VOSSY!  It was a close tense game but not one where you go wow... they'll be hard to beat.

The Sinners are gone.  I told you that last week but you didn't believe me did you?  Scotty Watters has clearly read my blog and had a moment of self-realisation.  The question is, are the Tigers good enough to make the 8?  Tell me on the side.

Finally, we knew the Dogs were average and the Dockers proved they will be up there, the Paps n Swans did what they had to, but the less said about the Dees the better.... no seriously... the cream may have risen but the plop went plop plop PLOP!

The Tippers
Five Whopper Rounds!  Yep, there were 17 that almost tipped the perfect round but only BJAK, Nips, TomRosewall, MadJacob and TaaaaliaPaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa pull off the full set of chicken mcnuggets.  I give you a burger voucher you will never use.  Overall that means we have two newbies in the comp at the top of the table - Luke Maguire (not sure what his real name is - coming out with these tricky pseudonyms) and TaaaaaliaPaaaaaaa - along with BJAK.  I'm thinking those point selections could come in handy at the end of the year.  As will your GF/WS picks.

In the side comp PieMad clearly was and picked as his certainties the Cats, Pies n Hawks.  He who dares wins and now leads with 8 in a row.  Remember when you miss yer pick you can restart straight away - the winner is the longest streak for the year.

Round 3
First up we get to see Freo wipe the smile off those Bombers faces.  And they will.  Simple.  The Roos then host the Swans - down in Tassie.  This would be the first test of the year for the Swans, and a chance for the Roos to show if they are more than just a bunch of whingers.  Tough game cos there's no real formline for the Swans.  Faith picks the Swans, logic probably the Roos... No homeground advantage means I'll stick with the Swans.

The Beagles head to Melbourne to pick over the carcass of the Dees.  Everyone please look away, move on, there's nothing to see here.  The Eagles are even considering sending over everyone that is injured just to even up the contest.  The Giants host the Sinners in the nations capital and this could prove interesting - after all, the Suns beat the Sinners eh?  I can't really pick the Giants for this one - surely the Sinners are better than that over four quarters.

On Saturday night the Blues will wanna get their skates on if they are gonna get some points on the board as they take on the Catters.  I'll stick with the favorites and enjoy seeing Micky go zip n 3 - it's a long way back from there.  Meanwhile up on the Gold Coast the Suns take on Brissy.  Boths teams are playing better than many thought.  Brissy would want to get this win and I think they have the hard bodies to do it.  Brissy by 6 goals.

Sunday sees the Tiggers get their chance to prove they are top 8 contenders - you have to beat the low teams to make it and the Doggies will finish bottom 4. Then the round finishes with a bang - the Hawkers take on the Pies and the Crows n Paps do battle in showbag bertiebeatle.  I may have to leave my Hawks/Pies tip till later in the week but at this stage the Hawks finished pretty strongly... hmmm... Hawks it is.  And of course the Crows will beat the Paps although after beating the mighty Dees and Giants in two consecutive weeks I can understand how the Paps should be favorites.

Round One - Finally Over

Finally the first round is over and the Paps can now stop stop stop cos they're top top top! Unbelievable! The Dees were absolutely rubbish and the Paps played rather well. Although how do we know how well they played given the $hit that was served up by Melbourne?  Safe to say you can't be choosing spooners now folks cos they would be everyone's pick.

Every other spooner pick actually played pretty well. The Doggies smashed the Lions, the Giants played solid footy against the Swans, of course the Abletts beat the Sinners, and the Peptides beat the Crows last week.  Round 1 is the round where we all write the losers off before their time, but the Dees are gone. Dead. History. Rubbish.

Just putting this out there - I picked the Suns. I am awesome. So why the F did I only get 4 from 9? It would have been three if I didn't change my pick to the Catters 10 minutes before the game started. Glad i did - why did i even give those chokers a look in to start with? Probably having to look at that dodgy poos n wees bag of Ando's over the pre-season.  The cats looked dead n buried 25 mins into the second quarter and then bang. bang.  Selwood absolutely set fire to the Cats and they exploded.  Kennett has now come out and called for the head of Clarko. A very smart man cos he clearly can't coach.  Maybe he can take buddy with him to GWS?

What else happened... Hmmm the Pies left Heath Shaw out of the team cos he was in my super coach team and they didnt want to risk him against the crapperoos.  Wise move.  And the Tiggers defied my wisdom and beat the Bluebaggers. What the...?

Just quietly I am getting a bit tired of fox footy continuously playing those little pearls of wisdom by the old coaches. I guess if I didn't have it on for 72 hours straight it wouldn't have been an issue.

Tippers
Yep it was tough in the tips but 3 people picked 6 from 9 which was a great effort. Miss World, chooka and Luke Maguire get the lead early. In the streak comp 4 people have 3 on the board - a handy early start.

Round 2
A few big games this week and it starts with a game that defines where the Sinners an Tiggers are going in 2013. The Tiggers lose and it is back to the last 10 years of failure for them... The Sinners lose and they will not make the 8.  I will tip the Tig.

At the SCG the Swans will unfurl the Premiership Flag against the Suns. The Swans have a dream start to the year as they play the young teams in consecutive weeks and the will easily beat the Suns.

The Doggies host the Dockers at etihad and here is a chance for them to show us they aren't that bad. The haze need to win to show they are genuine contenders and they will.  An the same goes for the Mighty Mighties against the Lions. Both teams will be smarting but the Crows have too much class and will win comfortably.

The Paps n bombers will easily beat the Giants n Dees, and in the battle of the Scott's, the angry Scott will win.  Then the round finishes with two massive games - the pies n blues, and beagles n hawks.  The Pies should have some players returning while the blues are still learning the grumpy bastards game plans. That said, mick will know the way they play intimately... Hmmm tough pick. Logic says the Pies, I think the Blues will get home. In the West Coast/Hawks game one of the Premiership faves will leave the game 0-2... The eagles have a few injuries but with the home ground advantage I think they will have enough...

Go you Crows!

Round1.1 Adversity Over Drugs

BLOODY RUBBISH I TELLS YA!

Apparently it takes 16 minutes for peptides to kick in.  As the media goes bezerko about how 'commendable', 'meritorious', 'gutsy' etc the Bombers win was, I have to ask WHY? why is it so farkin good that this team that is being investigated for a deliberate program of drug taking got the win?  What am I missing?  In 5 weeks time half the team will probably be gone for sticking needles in their fellas.  And apparently it was an amazing victory!  The Lance Armstrongs of footy overcame the adversity of being investigated and soon to be found guilty and it was a defining victory!  Give me strength... Only Oprah would believe

No. I am not biased at all.  The crows played excellent footy.  For 16 minutes. Then they played shite.   One word. Peptides.  Bitter? Not at all...

The derby was played on Saturday. And I had LeCras in my dream team. Is there anyone else out there you particularly hate? Cos I will put them in my team and chances are they will be out for a few weeks.  The Eagles looked pretty reasonable for the first half but the Haze gave em a smacking in the second half.  So there goes two of the Premiership favourites losing in the first round.  Fortunate that it ain't the last game of the season!

Tipping
Only four people picked the drugs to work and only 2 picked both teams - so leading the way are LouMan and Dennis Cu.  Similarly only two people managed to get anything in the streak... I think there is a fair way to go in both...

Round 1.2
Fair dinkum I hate this split round thing. What was I supposed to do on Sunday?  Watch the bloody cricket? At least they played all ten episodes of Game of Thrones.  7 games this week but none on Good Friday which makes a mockery of the name.  Thursday night kicks off with the micky maltmouses v the Tiggers.  Big game as both teams have expectations.  I have none for either of them except for FAILURE!  Can't see the Tiggers winning though - I will let you tip em.

The doggies host brissy on Saturday and if you asked me 4 weeks ago I would have said the dogs comfortably but I think the Lions will start off strong and beat a very ordinary team.  In the so-called Battle of the Bridge the Giants will not even get close, but the other NKOTB will start with a win on Saturday night - that's right folks you heard it first here. The Suns will beat the Sinners. Wrap yer laughing gear around that.

Two other teams not making the 8 play on Sunday - Dees v Paps.  I already don't care. Ok I do cos I have a cuppla Paps juniors in my dream team.  In front of 15k people the Paps will get crowd shy and lose by 6 goals.

The Pies will crush the Roos, and in the final game of the round the hawks take on the cats.  Will the Cats maintain their hoodoo over the Hawkers?  I would love it but the hawks should be full of beans and will win comfortably.  I am never wrong.
