Round 1: It's Really Long.

Hmmmmm!  OK, YES I am disappointed.  Gottit?  I know they Lost!  ENOUGH!  NO MORE FRIGGIN EMAILS!!! ;)
Must admit Round 1 didn't quite yield the result I was looking for.  The Purple Ones played very well, and the Crows didn't.  It will be interesting to see how long the Anchors can keep it up for eh?  Barlow put in a great first game - 33 possessions.  Disturbing.

The Crows game wasn't the only surprise for the weekend though.  On Sunday morning I awoke expecting to get an extra hour sleep.  Isn't Daylight saving over on the last weekend of March???  Apparently not, but that didn't stop me from telling some friends they would get a nice sleep in on Sunday morning... And such was the trust of their source aka Horseboy, that when they were speaking with some other friends on Saturday, they said hey, lets have breakfast before you go to the house of the Lord - after all, you get an extra hours sleep...  So off to breaky they trotted... wondering why the rest of the people they saw had their watches still set for the old time... how STUPID is everyone?  And even the cafe appears to have their clock set wro.... oh... hmmmm!!!!!

Whoops.... sorry bout that :)

Anyway, Round 1 is finally over.  I'm glad all the rounds don't go for this long.  I REALLY hope they don't start these bluddy Monday night games....

But from Thursday night through to Sunday night it was Footy Fest... the only trouble being that most of the games were actually not great.  They featured players cramping, players falling over, players missing targets, and players going the odd thump.  And that was just the Blues / Tigers game.  After all the questions about Les Blues, they did actually find a few ways to goal in the Fev Free Forward Line - 9 of them, with Betts, Yarran and the Oirish Clown Setanta kicking 3 a piece and 6 others chiming in.  Handy effort.  Of course you need to balance that with the fact they were playing the Tiggers. They were just as inept as you would imagine they would be.  Easy win to the Bluebaggers to give them their only win of the first 9 rounds.

On Friday night as I was out watching the Dead Weather tear up the stage, I clicked on the ole footy app expecting to see a caning.  The Cats were playing the Bombers and lets be kind and say the latter are a work in progress.  I gasped audibly as the margin matched the expectation but it was the BOMBERS who were leading halfway through the 2nd quarter!  First thought that crossed the mind was just how unbearable Daaaaaaaave would be if the Bombers actually DID get up... Fortunately sanity prevailed and the Catters shredded the Bombers in the end... *phew*  6 goals was more than enough.  I just saw that Hille didn't get suspended... yer kidding me aren't you???

On saturday the Hawks played the Dees.  Result as expected.  Over at ANZ Stadium meanwhile Horseboy and Lady Horseboy were unable to make it out to the Swans as She had broken a trotter the day prior.  Ouch.  I gave the Swans a huge chance of winning.  Why? Why? Why?  No idea.  I guess they were in the contest and they did have more shots on the scoreboard but... yes.  Koshitsme got reported and will get 3 or 4 games - of COURSE he will - I had him in my dream team...

Meanwhile up at the Gabba, the Fev made his debut for the Lions against the Eagles.  The Eagles somehow dominated the game.  Absolutely no idea how.  They are shizer.  But for the first 3 quarters they led well, and at three quarter time with the Lions down to 19 men, the money was on the Eagles to close it out.  Nup.  All of a sudden Browny launched himself into the game and it was game over.   Very good victory given the circumstances but I'm not sure what it means for their finals credibility...

On Sunday the Paps officially launched their new guernsey and did it pretty easy over the Roos but who really gives a flying?

Finally, in the match of the round the Doggies played the Pies.  After a great year last year and winning the whocarescup it's fair to say the Dogs were favorites.  350 games to Bradley J was going to provide extra incentive and with Big Bad Bustling Barry dominating the forward line I figured the Pies wouldn't match em.  They did and then some.  While the Dogs came back again and again, they never got into a winning position (a bit like the Crows) and down they went.  Mind you did you see the Doggies dude with the mohawk?  Oh lord.  The guy got on the telly so much he ended up with his own lil thread.  Impressive.  In the dictionary sense.

The Tippers
Clearly there are some Pies feral folk in the comp this year that backed their own team cos there were a few that backed the Pies, but the one Pie that took the cake was the Footy Junkie - getting the full house, he gets the bonus point to lead by 2 points after the first round.  Great effort.  B'stard.  With 60 people in the comp this year there will be prizes to the Top 10 or maybe more - I will do the sums and see how we go.

In the side comp a few of you forgot to put yer selections in.  Yer idiots.  47 people left. It will jackpot by $10 a week so into week 2 we go and it is up to $20 (I should have worked in audit...).  You can pick from all the games... I suggest you do...
Round 2
There is some crud amongst the jewels this week and the Pies playing one of about 20 games at the G this year host the Dees.  One.  Sided.  You can add the Tigers v Dogs to those two words.  Seriously do the Tigers and Dees have a chance against anyone this year?

Up at the Gabba on THURSDAY night... yes thats right THURSDAY night... the IsFevolas play the WasFevolas.  You would imagine the Blues will be out to show they didn't need the big ugly mofo, and the big ugly mofo will be out to show they did.  Brisbane will do enough.

The Beagles held it together for 3 quarters against Brissy and that will be more than enough to knock off the Paps as they duke it out for 10th position, while a Koshitsme-free sinners will make it 2 on the trot against the Roos.

In what will be (hopefully) a cracker of a game, the all out attack of the Crows meets the all out attack of the Swans.  The skills of these two teams on the weekend was unbelievable... hmm.  At home the Crows should have too much.  If they don't then young Neil may start looking for an assistant job with GWS.

In AirConditioned Stadium the Bombers host the Dockers.  Despite the Dockers putting in a great effort against the Crows, and Essendon being Essendon, I still can't see the Purple ones winning...  And finally you can expect the Cats to put the Hawks away pretty easily.  On yer bike.
