Hazy Shade of Winter

Well that was unbelievable! The Haze pulled off the win of the year on Saturday night after ripping the Cats a new one in the first quarter and keeping them off for the rest of the game.  That great South Aussie who sadly went to Sacred Heart - Matty Pavlich - put on a show as he slotted 3 in the first and 6 for the game while the Cats struggled to match them.  I gave them NO chance but what they did was damn impressive.  Seriously.  I do think the Cats were already plotting the demise of the Hawks though - lesson number one in an elimination final... no matter how good you think you are... you have to win the game yer playing before you can play the game in two weeks time.

The Dockers will of course play the Mighty Mighty's. They were not impressive. Not one winner on the ground, and on the scoreboard badly beaten by the Swans.  Goodesy was back in form, Jetta played well.  Jeez even LRT looked ok.  On the other hand the Crows had more scoring shots than the Swans so if we can play that crap yet still get that many inside 50s things aren't completely hopeless... No?

The pundits are still talking about the draw... But have a look through and the only teams the Mighty's didn't beat that matter were the Hawks n Pies... Yes they must have been lucky to finish top 4 losing to all those teams hmmm?

That said if the Dockers play like they did against the Cats and if the Crows kick as poorly as they did against the Swans then per-season starts early for the fruit tingles.

The other two games went pretty much to script with the Hawks beating the Pies and the Beagles creaming the Roos.  That second part is an understatement.  People talk about playing against witches hats.  Well apart from one witches hat having a rather massive brain explosion (yes you Harvey! CLOWN!), there was zero in the way of fight from the Roos.  It was indeed a very bad week to be a Scott.

Speaking of which did you see Don Scott on Open Mike???  Interesting...

Back to the Pies.  Cloke was back in a big way - 6 goals and taking those big contested marks.  But their midfield is being exposed for being a bunch of handball to me handball to me so I can get some champion data points, and it remains to be seen how Jolly handles the twin towers that are NicNat and HesGottaBig without backup from their backup ruckman - Maxwell.  You are only as good as your opposition lets you be though, so consider that the Weagles had no opposition and the Pies played possibly the best team in the comp (possibly Ando... I said possibly...), then to use last weeks results as the guide is misleading at best.

So who will win?

Crows v Haze in Radelaide... of course I will pick the Crows, but I have to admit if the Haze play like they did against the Cats it will be tough. There will be no surprise attacks though, the midfield will stand strong and get the mighty's into the Prelim against the Hawks.

Pies v Beagles in Melbourne...  as good as the Testicles looked, the good money will be on the Pies.  They got the win last time in Melbourne and should have just enough to get over the line this time.  For mine it all hinges on Cox n NicNat - if they fire then there is nothing the Pies can do to stop the rot.  If they don't then the Pies midfield will get too much of the ball and it's adios....

Tipping
Well some IDIOT forgot to put his tips in until halfway through the Crows game... ah dear.  seriously.  Scary!  Otherwise I would be leading this thing I'm sure...

There was a 4 from 4 though... which on this weekend is equally scary.  Delores come on down!!!  IH8Crows is still leading... but top ten get the cash... you know it so keep it up!
